Newcastle Thunder embarks on one of the club's busiest weeks of the year today, with the club heavily involved in the build-up to the Dacia Magic Weekend at St James’ Park.

While supporters will descend on the iconic venue on Saturday and Sunday, Thunder’s involvement gets underway from Monday, with three separate engagements.

Starting from early morning, members of the Newcastle Thunder Community Project will be present with local school children taking part in a Sky Try festival on the main pitch, before Rhys Clarke will join representatives from the 12 Betfred Super League clubs at the official media launch.

Co-captain Clarke will be adding a local voice to those being interviewed by the assembled journalists and broadcasters and ensuring the crunch Magic Friday fixture against York City Knights gets the hype it deserves.

Following on from that activity, Touch Rugby sides from across the area will take to the field for the annual competition, which allows for the opportunity to play on the same pitch that will be graced by the stars of the Betfred Super League the following weekend.

Focus will then switch for Thunder to the Friday night fixture against York City Knights, which the club will be looking to set a new rugby league attendance record at Kingston Park Stadium and improve on last year’s 3,033 spectators.

Tickets for Friday's fixture are available to book now by clicking here, calling 0871 2266060 or by visiting the Kingston Park Stadium box office.

Advanced prices start from £10 for adult standing and £12 for adult seating, with advanced ticket prices valid until Midnight on Thursday 18th May.

Both East and West Stands will be open for the match, affording supported a range of options to choose when deciding where to watch the game from.
