Young rugby league players from nine different clubs will enjoy a day full of games at Kingston Park Stadium on Friday as the Newcastle Dacia Cup takes place.
Held ahead of the Kingstone Press League 1 match against Barrow Raiders, teams from under 8s and under 10s age groups will take part in a series of festival games, while under 12s, 14s and 16s will take part in a cup competition.
Catterick Crusaders, Cramlington Rockets, Darlington, Gateshead Storm, Peterlee Pumas, Wallsend Eagles, Whitley Bay Barbarians and Yarm will be representing the region in the games while from the heartlands, Batley Boys will travel to take part in what is expected to be one of the largest grassroots rugby league festivals in the North East this year.
Getting underway from 10:00, participants all have the chance to stay on and watch Thunder tackle a Barrow Raiders team joint top of the league, while the final of the Under 12s cup competition will take place on the main pitch at half time.
