Newcastle Thunder are pleased to announce that we will be running our Coach Development Programme (CDP) again in 2017. Following on from a very successful 2016, in which coaches engaged with monthly workshops covering a variety of topics, Thunder will be again running a monthly development programme for coaches to further enhance the great work which is being done throughout the region’s community clubs.
Michael Heap, Thunder’s Head of Academy and Assistant First Team Coach, is really pleased with the standard of coaching in the North East as is confident that this will continue to improve in 2017. “Last year’s Coach Development Programme received some really positive feedback from the coaches involved, who found the content appropriate and relevant to the age groups they are coaching. One of the most pleasing aspects of the CDP in 2016 was the involvement of a number of coaches in the clubs Player Development Programmes. We had coaches from the CDP coaching players on both our under 12 and under 14 development days. This is something that we are keen to continue in 2017 and provide opportunities for coaches to learn alongside our Academy and First Team staff in a comfortable and open environment.”
The CDP timetable is as follows (all workshops will run 18:30-20:30 and will be held at Kingston Park Stadium, Brunton Road, NE13 8AF):
Monday 6th February 2017
Monday 6th March 2017
Monday 3rd April 2017
Monday 8th May 2017
Monday 12th June 2017
Monday 10th July 2017
Coaches are required to register for the CDP by emailing Michael.Heap@newcastle-thunder.co.uk. Further details of the content of the workshops and the delivering coaches will be available shortly.
