Gateshead Thunder are pleased to announce the signing of Reece Young, a product of their successful Under 18 Gillette National Youth Team.

Young, aged 19, has signed until the end of the 200 season with the view to extending the contract at the end of this term.  The talented hooker has been a part of the Gateshead Thunder Youth Performance structure for 3 years now, as well as representing Gateshead Panthers, Jarrow Vikings and Gateshead Storm.

Director of Rugby Chris Hood commented:

"Reece has really impressed over the past few months and has shown great ability for his young age."

"He is quick, can spot an opportunity and is tough to go with it.  He is well known by the rest of the first team and they all have huge faith in his ability."

Reece said:

"I am really proud to be playing for my hometown club, and I am really excited by the opportunity given to me."

"Both my parents and the rest of my family are really excited for me, and they all know how hard I've been working for this chance.

"As with everything in my life, I will give it my all, hold nothing back and fight for everything I can."
