Newcastle Thunder will kick off the countdown to the 2018 League 1 season with a high profile pre-season friendly against Castleford Tigers on January 27 (kick off 5:00pm)

2017’s Betfred Super League grand finalists will be sending a squad to provide Thunder with quality opposition for their only scheduled home friendly, as Jason Payne and Michael Heap look to fine tune their side ahead of the new season’s kick off.

The visit of the Tigers side will mark the third year on the bounce that Thunder have been able to test themselves against players from Super League stables, following on from Widnes Vikings in 2016 and St Helens last year.

Both of those sides have drawn big attendances to Kingston Park Stadium, with the visit of Castleford anticipated to bring more of the same.

Tickets for the game will be on sale in the coming days while for any supporters booking a 2018 season ticket membership by Friday, December 22, the game will be included in the price of that year pass.

Individual match tickets purchased in advance for the friendly will be priced at £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £5 for under 16s for standing and £12 for adults, £10 for concessions and  & £5 for Under 16s in the seats.
